Each of The Academy's four design choices - the college admission arc, the cohort structure, the values work, and the developmental stages of adolescence - is grounded in a distinct body of empirical research. Taken together, they describe a program built to meet adolescent girls in the specific developmental window when identity, self-concept, self-efficacy, and belonging are most actively forming - and to do so in a way the research suggests will produce durable effects across the transition to adulthood. The Academy's longitudinal study uses four validated instruments to apply these claims with rigor. The evidence base supports each design choice independently.
The Academy's contribution is to create a community for adolescent girls in transition. Alongside the essays, lists, and timelines, each member moves through a cohort-based experience designed around research on how girls build identity, values, and a sense of belonging that lasts. The two pieces strengthen each other: each girl writes a more compelling and reflective application because she has done the inner work to understand her values, and she carries that clarity past admissions - into college and the life that follows.

The Academy currently serves rising tenth and eleventh graders. Beginning here lets us step directly into the foundational values work while launching into the early-stage tactical work of the college application process.
Future cohorts will expand to include rising eighth and ninth graders. The full vision is a five-year arc - eighth through twelfth grade - grounded in the research on when identity, self-concept, and self-efficacy are most actively forming in adolescent girls. If your daughter is in middle school or early high school, we welcome the chance to stay in touch as enrollment opens for those grade levels in 2027.

The Academy follows a year-long arc, with a rhythm shaped to each grade and to the natural pace of the school year. For every cohort, the summer lays the foundation - it is where the cohorts first come together and the work of the year is planned and commences.
All cohorts also have regular individual check-ins and a small number of required parent meetings across the year. The tempo of the year is designed to keep each girl on a steady pace - so the work stays manageable, and there is room for the deeper work of values and self-discovery at the heart of The Academy. The Academy is a hybrid program - a mix of online and in-person gatherings, each chosen for what it does best. Cohort meetings and individual check-ins take place online, designed to fit into the girls' lives and give each of them the flexibility to engage fully from wherever she is.
The cohort also comes together in person for orientation, boot camps, and other gatherings, where the work deepens in shared space. These in-person gatherings are a meaningful part of the experience - time for the cohort to build the kind of connection that happens best face to face. Locations are set once each cohort is finalized, so we can choose a central location for the group.
